I Like to Move it Move it: Exercise and Parkinson’s Disease — Dr. Lo
Main Points:
All forms of exercise, including aerobic and endurance exercises, benefit people with PD. The benefits can include improvement in motor function, gait, non-motor symptoms (such as mood, memory, and energy levels), and quality of life.
There is some evidence that suggests that exercise may reduce the progression of PD.
There is no absolute best exercise for someone with PD to do, and no definitive protocol for one to follow, but recommendations generally include a mixture of exercises that improve aerobic function, strength, flexibility and balance, of at least moderate intensity, over multiple sessions each week on a regular basis.
There are many ways to maintain the motivation to keep exercising. Use them to keep your exercise program going!
