There is a network of more than 40 area support groups for those living with Parkinson’s Disease and/or their carepartners. PFNCA facilitates a few of them directly under the leadership of Leon Paparella, MSW but does provide information for other supports as well under our listings (click area links below). Because these groups have different focuses, you may find it helpful to speak with the support group facilitator to get a sense of their group’s focus. Any contact information given to PFNCA is listed. Please note, some support groups do not have a point of contact listed. Some questions you may want to ask include:
- How would you characterize your group and what is the primary purpose of your group?
- What is the average number of years your group members have been living with Parkinson’s?
- What have some of your recent discussion topics been?
- Does your group have participation limitations due to the size of your meeting location?
The below links direct you to area support groups. Ones denoted with an asterisk (*) are led by PFNCA Support Group Specialist Leon Paparella. Please note that meeting dates and locations are subject to change. Please contact the Support Group facilitator to verify meeting information.
