This program establishes a wellness and prevention program for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease and their care partners with a focus on maintenance of communication skills. This program stresses the importance of speaking louder to be heard in social settings. The instructor for this class is Matt McKeon M.S.CCC-SLP.
Why Communication Clubs are important for people facing Parkinson’s?
Those diagnosed with Parkinson’s may experience reduced breath support and monotone speaking qualities leading to low speaking volume, which is difficult for others to hear and understand. Communication Clubs are provided to strengthen your breath support and improve your ability to project so you can continue to be heard loud and clear by your family and friends.
How can I participate?
Registration with PFNCA is required and there is a nominal annual administrative fee, which can be waived for financial hardship. To register, please call the PFNCA office at (301) 844-6510 or click the register link under the “Helpful Links” on the right side of this page. To attend in person just go to the venue about 10 mins before scheduled class time – I would take mask, ID and vaccination card as different venues have different requirements. Please check if there are pre attendance requirements for the class you want to attend.
