Chaitanya, who goes by ‘Chai’ is Program Manager for the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area (PFNCA). Chai spent most of her life in New England through college and and trained as a family physician. After completing her Family Medicine residency at Brown University in 2007, Chai moved to Northern Virginia and practiced medicine at Georgetown University before starting her family. While raising three small children and managing a busy household, Chai’s husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 38. Chai’s career focus pivoted to chronic illness, caregiver support, and Parkinson’s advocacy which led her to the PFNCA. She and her husband welcome outreach by other families living with young onset Parkinson’s disease and have created and lead multiple social media forums and support groups for young onset PD. Chai and her family enjoy socializing with friends and getting involved with their community.
