Cathleen (Cathy) Renkiewicz, PT, DPT, GCS, CEEAA is the CEO of Virginian Rehabilitation and Wellness, and a practicing Physical Therapist with over 40 years’ experience, specializing in the treatment of Movement Disorders. Her credentials include certifications from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a Geriatric Specialist (GCS), and Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults (CEEAA). She is also a certified LSVT Big and Parkinson’s Wellness Program (PowerMoves) therapist for the treatment of people with Parkinson’s Disease. Cathy currently serves on the Advisory Board of the NVCC PTA program and served on the BOD of the Virginian Physical Therapy Association for six years. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy and then received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University.
In the past 12 years, Cathy has led the Virginian Rehabilitation and Wellness team in the development of its specialty programs for those with Movement Disorders. All PT, OT and ST clinicians have at least one specialty certification to treat those with Parkinson’s Disease, as does the Wellness team. They host in person group classes for those with PD and plan to expand in-person classes with a move to a larger outpatient facility in Fairfax in June 2023. Cathy’s interest in serving those with PD is also personal, as her father had PD as well as another close family member who was diagnosed with young onset PD.
